What Age Should Kids Start Skiing? An Instructor’s Honest Guide
Parents often ask: "Our child is 3 years old — is it too early?". Here is the honest answer: kids can start at 3, but the approach differs completely from teaching a 6-year-old.
Ages 3–4: Playful Introduction, Not Training
At ages 3–4, focus on sensory comfort: getting used to ski boots, sliding gently, and having fun. Lessons are short and playful.
Ages 5–7: The Golden Window
This is the golden age for skiing. Children have developed muscle control and attention to master snowplow steering and green slopes within 2-3 sessions.
What About Snowboarding?
We recommend starting snowboarding from age 7–8. Snowboarding requires symmetrical ankle control and core strength. Skiing provides a much smoother, tears-free start for younger kids.
